It has been a long time coming but it is with great excitement that I launch this site…A Journey of 1000 Miles. The idea for this site began over a year ago as I was preparing to relocate from New York City to London with my family. I wrote lengthy posts on Facebook chronicling the ups, downs and curves of the home and school search and application process in London, finding suitable tenants for my home in New York and the emotional process of withdrawing my children from school and their extracurricular activities and saying goodbye to family, friends and neighbors.
The outpouring of support from those who read my posts encouraged me to continue when I thought of calling it all off. I received comments that I was inspiring people to pursue their dreams but little did they know how much those comments inspired me. Several people suggested that I create a blog to further the conversations that I was having on Facebook; so to those of you who planted the idea and encouraged me to share my experiences through this site, I thank you.
Nearly a year after settling in London and continuing to share stories about my life here and the highlights of my travels via Facebook and Instagram, the idea for this site is finally a reality and I know that it will be an important part of my journey and the perfect way to share it. Which brings me to the title of this site, many of you are familiar with the quote by the famous Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzu “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. I often reflect on the steps that I have taken with the understanding that it is all part of my journey. It is no coincidence that I am launching this site on my birthday. The past year has been incredibly transformative and I want to begin my new year by taking a new step with the creation of this site. I look forward to sharing my journey past and present with you and invite you to share your steps along the way.
Maktub!
Cheers to you and welcome to blogging!

I’m so looking forward to reading all the entries to your journey of 1000 miles, it will keep me vritualily involved in you guys exciting lives and possibly help me bring some of my dreams to fruition. I am also very familiar with Lao Tzu’s quote and I used a variation of it on the shirt I wore while running the NYC Marathon last year, my shirt read “a journey of 26.2 miles begins with a single step”. Oh and once again Happy Birthday Ahtis!

And what a great way to leave a paper trail and a legacy for Chelsea & Chase. Better than a scrap book or journal as it will also include comments and inspirations from others.
Write on!
