It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you” – Rakim
I’ve been M.I.A. for most of 2017 and if you follow me on Instagram you might’ve seen a post a few weeks ago where I talked about taking a break from things and before you know it more time has passed than you intended but its ok to start again. Well, that post was about more than me taking a break from spinning and exercising, it was also about writing.
Since my birthday this past May and even in the weeks leading up to it I have felt like I needed to pause on sharing while I evaluate important life decisions. I will be turning the big 4-0 next year and I feel some changes coming. Not only will I be entering a new decade next year but my daughter is finishing primary (elementary) school and I needed to focus on finding the best school for her. That decision raised the question of whether it’s best for us to remain in London or New York given that we would be facing transition decisions again next year because our visas expire in 2019. Needless to say, that decision raised others and I found myself in full life re-evaluation mode.
Taking the past few months to refocus has been time well spent. I have made some important career decisions, established and built upon important professional relationships and managed the crazy making, drive you to drink (which I didn’t) secondary school application process for my daughter. I’ve even cut out coffee and alcohol for nearly three months to finish the year the way I started the first three months of it, with a clearer my mind. I highly recommend taking a break from caffeine and alcohol when you need to focus and see what results you are able to achieve.
I will share how things work out in 2018 when the time is right so stay tuned…I will also share some of the highlights of this year to catch you up on my travels and other musings.
